I had a tasty sausage roll and a coffee at Phil’s Bakery & Cafe opting to sit outside and people watch as it had been over a year since I’ve made it to this neck of the woods. Everything managed in a covid safe manner with QR code’s on every table and plenty of space inside for queuing and waiting. The sausage rolls had a light buttery pastry and although the filling was quite soft (I prefer the texture a little firmer) it tasted really delicious. Coffee was also pleasant and strong enough despite me forget to order it strong.

Absolutely love this place! George and the team are full of community spirit — you can really feel the warmth and care they put into everything they do. The food consistently blows me away; I discover a new favourite every time I visit. Service is always quick, but never rushed — there’s always time for a friendly chat, which makes the experience feel personal and welcoming. Highly recommend the Basque cheesecake (unreal!), the chicken and avocado focaccia, and you can never go past the Leo donut. An absolute gem!

Burnt Basqe Cheese Cake and Almons Croissant are heavenly delicious! We are cake lover and have never tried anything near these deliciousness! Great service and coffees! Definitely be back!

Great bustling cafe bakery with the best fast cheap eats near me in Westgarth (Northcote), that’s been there forever and has a cult following. Top notch Coffee and excellent hot meals for breakfast, brunch, lunch or snacks with several flavours of pies, vegetarian pasties, sausage rolls, toasted sandwiches, schnitzel rolls, salads, soup & even roast beef & brisket with veggies. Plus a great range of sweets & patisserie style cakes & desserts - one of the vanilla slice I’ve tasted plus great New York cheesecake, donuts and yoghurt / fruit salad. Easy quick dine in or takeaway

Phil’s Bakehouse is your Westgarth non hipster option. It’s refreshingly ordinary in its offerings, layout and style, and it has a loyal and dedicated following. We grabbed one of the outdoor tables on High Street and my seat was next to a wheelie bin. No matter at all. Our coffees were good. A perfectly respectable brew and served with a nice word and a lovely smile. They were inexpensive too. You can ask for little more. We like the look of the Greek food on offer here. It looked mighty good and the price was right. We’ll be back.

It feels like a warm home decided to have a career change to become a bakery! I thoroughly feel welcomed and valued each time I step foot inside Phil's. My go to stop for food or coffee.
